Who should take this course?

This course is recommended for individuals who feel their speech or voice skills are holding them back in their jobs due to misunderstandings. Accent reduction courses offered at ClearlySpeaking are suited for high intermediate to advanced English speakers. Class materials used in this class were designed with the professional and/or executive in mind. If you are uncertain if you meet this level, please contact ClearlySpeaking.

Do employers pay for this course?

Often times, it is an employer that pays for the training but it will depend on your employer. Please ask them to help you speak more clearly-they will benefit from your improvements, too. Be sure to mention the benefits listed above.

Is it more suited for a specific language group?

Any language group would benefit from this training. Asian speaking languages tend to make most progress in this course.  If you are not completely sure, please take the one week risk-free trial to see for yourself.

What results can I expect from taking this course?

Learning new habits is a process that takes time. If you are a dedicated learner, you should expect to see progress within the first few weeks of taking this course. It largely depends on your motivation to practice and how well you keep your speaking goals forefront in your mind. ClearlySpeaking works hard at keeping you motivated  to practice every day for at least 15 minutes. The more that you practice, the sooner you will train yourself to speak with new skills automatically. We want you to feel empowered to be the best that you can be!

The first step of change requires a conscious level awareness of your mistakes and efforts to make the necessary changes. This is often the most uncomfortable stage of learning. As you practice, these new skills will move to the “unconscious level” as your brain “remembers” to apply the new skills. Then, you no longer need to think about it. It requires practice (and a lot of it) to get to this stage.

How do I know if this program is right for me?

If you are unsure of whether or not you are suitable for this membership program or if you are unsure of which course to purchase, we recommend you email us.  We’ll set up a time to talk to you.  On occasion, someone is not ready at all for this training due to the high level skills that this training addresses. Some people may need pronunciation training or English as a Second Language first.

What is different about your course compared to others?

We worked hard at developing an independent study that incorporates video, audio and written homework to help you learn.  We wanted to offer you additional training if you want it and so we included you in all of our public webinars for free!  You have the option of taking advantage of  LIVE one-on-one training via the phone/internet at a significantly reduced fee. You can access us by the hour or in a package of time.  Some clients may feel more comfortable knowing whether they are practicing correctly; others feel comfortable without that feedback. This approach allows you to chose what method works best for you.

Additionally, this training focuses on mastering only a few skills at a time. With all that you have to do in a day, the additional work of mastering language skills is not an easy task. We want you to succeed and if you have too many things to concentrate on, we know you won’t succeed.

Why do you offer training to the native speaker?

The responsibility of making a conversational exchange work is not just the English language learner’s role. There are many techniques that the native speaker can use to help the conversation run smoothly. ClearlySpeaking wants to educate the employer and their employees about ways the native speaker can help the non-native speaker succeed in communication. Webinar presentations are available when requested.

How do I get started?

Once you make your payment, you will receive your membership information (username/password) and you will get access to the course (the private section of this site). You will be able to begin your first lesson immediately. Seven days later, your second lesson will be available. At any time, you can sign-up for any topics/discussions that are being offered via webinars, join discussion forums and take advantage of all the resources.
