Your Voice is an Asset
Are your speech and voice skills an asset or liability at work?
An effective exercise to move you towards creating the voice you'd like to have is to critically listen to others. Make two lists with names of people (that you hear at work, home, on TV, etc.) whose voices you like and voices you dislike. Once you have about five people on each list, try to determine what features they possess that you like or don't like. Think about the pitch, nasality, rate of speech, quality of sound, tone, etc. Now tape record your own voice. Is there something about your voice that you like or don't like? Your ability to critically analyze speech and voice characteristics is key to making changes in your own speech.
Make your speech and voice skills an asset to your professional image.
